  • The carrier oils may help condition dry hair and reduce breakage from combing.
  • It is a cosmetic, not a treatment for hair loss; ongoing or patchy hair loss needs a doctor's assessment.

How to use

Massage a small amount into the scalp and hair 2 to 3 times a week, leave on for 1 to 2 hours or as the label says, then wash with a mild shampoo. Patch-test first: put a little on the skin behind your ear and wait 48 hours; stop if you get itching, redness or a rash. Avoid the eyes. Frequently asked questions

Massage into the scalp 2 to 3 times a week, leave for 1 to 2 hours and wash off with a mild shampoo.

Can I leave onion hair oil overnight?

Onion oil vs rosemary oil for hair

Both have limited evidence. Pick the one your scalp tolerates.

Onion hair oil side effects

Itching, burning, rash and a strong smell are the most common complaints. Patch-test first.

Can I apply raw onion juice instead?
