What Losartan 50 mg is used for
- High blood pressure (hypertension).
- Protecting the kidneys in people with type 2 diabetes and kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy).
- Heart failure, when ACE inhibitors like ramipril cause a cough or are not suitable.
- Reducing stroke risk in people with high blood pressure and a thickened heart muscle.

What is Losar 50 used for?
Losar 50 contains losartan 50 mg, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It lowers high blood pressure, protects the kidneys in type 2 diabetes and is used in heart failure when ACE inhibitors are not tolerated.
Losar 50 vs Losar H – what is the difference?
Losar 50 contains only losartan. Losar H adds hydrochlorothiazide, a water tablet, for people whose blood pressure is not controlled on losartan alone. Your doctor decides which you need.
Can I take Losar 50 at night?
Yes. Losartan can be taken at any time of day as long as it is the same time each day. Some doctors suggest night-time dosing for better overnight blood pressure control.
Is Repace 50 safe in pregnancy?
No. Losartan must not be taken in pregnancy because it can harm the baby's kidneys and development. If you are planning a pregnancy or find you are pregnant, tell your doctor immediately so it can be changed.
