Frequently asked questions

What is Moxicip eye drop used for?

Moxicip contains moxifloxacin 0.5%, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It treats bacterial conjunctivitis (red, sticky eye) and other bacterial eye-surface infections, and is used around cataract surgery to prevent infection.

How many times a day should I use Milflox eye drops?

Usually one drop three times a day in the affected eye, unless your doctor says otherwise. Keep going for the full course even if the eye looks clear after a couple of days.

Can Moxicip be used for viral or allergic conjunctivitis?

No. Antibiotic drops only work on bacterial infections. Watery, itchy eyes in allergy season or during a viral eye flu will not improve with moxifloxacin; see a doctor for the right drops.

Can I wear contact lenses while using Moxicip?

No. Do not wear lenses while you have an eye infection or while using the drops. Clean or replace lenses and eye make-up that touched the infected eye.
