What Levothyroxine 75 mcg is used for
- Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) – replaces the hormone your thyroid is not making enough of.
- A common maintenance dose once your TSH has been adjusted from a lower starting dose.
- Hypothyroidism in pregnancy, where the dose is often stepped up to this level or higher.
- After thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine treatment, and to suppress TSH in some thyroid cancers.

What is Thyronorm 75 used for?
Thyronorm 75 contains levothyroxine 75 mcg, a synthetic thyroid hormone. It treats an underactive thyroid and is a common maintenance dose once your TSH has been adjusted.
Thyronorm 50 vs Thyronorm 75 – why was my dose changed?
Doctors adjust the dose based on your TSH blood test, usually six to eight weeks after a change. Moving to 75 mcg means your TSH was still high on the lower dose. Never change strength on your own.
Why must Thyronorm be taken on an empty stomach?
Food, tea, coffee and milk reduce how much levothyroxine your body absorbs. Taking it first thing in the morning with water, 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast, keeps your dose consistent.
Can I take Thyronorm 75 with calcium or iron tablets?
Not at the same time. Iron, calcium and antacids block absorption – keep a gap of about four hours between them and your thyroid tablet.
