This is an adult strength. Children get amoxicillin-clavulanate syrup or lower-strength tablets dosed by weight.
Missed dose

Frequently asked questions
Augmentin 625 before or after food?
Take it at the start of a meal. Food reduces stomach upset and helps the clavulanic acid be absorbed better.
Can I take Augmentin 625 with alcohol?
There is no dangerous interaction, but alcohol adds to nausea and can worsen diarrhoea and dehydration. Avoid it during the course.
How many times a day is Augmentin 625 taken?
Usually three times a day (every 8 hours) for 5 to 7 days, unless your doctor prescribes differently.
Is Augmentin 625 good for a cold or viral fever?
No. It only works on bacterial infections. Colds and most fevers are viral. Using it without need causes diarrhoea and antibiotic resistance. It is a Schedule H prescription medicine.
Augmentin 625 vs Clavam 625 – is there a difference?
Both are amoxicillin 500 mg + clavulanic acid 125 mg and work the same. Price and manufacturer differ.
Why does Augmentin cause loose motions, and what should I do?
Diarrhoea is the most common side effect because the antibiotic disturbs gut bacteria. Take it with food, drink fluids and ORS; probiotics may help. If diarrhoea is severe, watery or bloody, stop and see your doctor.
Is Augmentin 625 safe in pregnancy?
It is one of the antibiotics commonly used in pregnancy when needed. Only take it if your doctor prescribes it.
Can I take Augmentin 625 if I am allergic to penicillin?
No. Amoxicillin is a penicillin. Tell your doctor about any penicillin allergy so a different antibiotic can be chosen.
Can I take Dolo 650 with Augmentin 625?
Yes, paracetamol can be taken alongside for fever or pain; there is no interaction.
