What Atorvastatin 40 mg is used for
- High cholesterol – lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides.
- Preventing heart attack, stroke and angina in people with heart disease or at high risk; the 40 mg dose is common after a heart attack or stent.
- People with diabetes or kidney disease who need cholesterol lowering.
- Inherited high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolaemia).

Atorva 40 morning or night?
Either, as long as it is the same time every day. Many doctors suggest evening because the body makes more cholesterol at night, but a fixed morning dose works too.
Atorva 10 vs Atorva 40 – what is the difference?
Both contain atorvastatin; 40 mg is a higher-intensity dose used after a heart attack, stent or in people at high risk. Your doctor chooses the strength based on your cholesterol and heart risk.
Can I take Atorva 40 with alcohol?
Occasional small amounts are usually fine, but regular heavy drinking raises the risk of liver problems with statins. Keep alcohol to a minimum.
Does Atorva 40 cause muscle pain?
Mild muscle aches are a common side effect. Severe pain, weakness or dark urine can signal muscle damage – stop the tablet and see your doctor the same day.
