What Paracetamol 250 mg/5 ml is used for
- Fever (high temperature) in children aged 6 years and above, including fever after vaccination.
- Pain from colds, flu, sore throat, earache and headache.
- Teething pain, toothache and pain after minor injuries.
- Body ache during viral fever, dengue and monsoon infections, when the doctor says paracetamol is safe.
Frequently asked questions
Dolo 250 vs Calpol 250 – which is better for my child's fever?
Both contain the same medicine, paracetamol 250 mg in every 5 ml, and work the same way. Choose by availability and flavour your child accepts; what matters is giving the correct dose for your child's weight or age.
How many times a day can I give Dolo 250 Suspension?
Up to 4 times in 24 hours, with at least 4 hours between doses. Do not give more than 4 doses in a day even if the fever comes back sooner – call your doctor instead.
Is Calpol 250 for a 2-year-old?
No. The 250 mg/5 ml (DS) strength is meant for children aged 6 years and above. A 2-year-old normally needs the 120 or 125 mg/5 ml paediatric strength, dosed by weight as the doctor advises.
Can I give Dolo 250 with cough syrup?
Check the cough syrup label first. Many cold and cough syrups already contain paracetamol, and giving both together can cause an overdose. Ask your chemist or doctor if you are unsure.
