Frequently asked questions
How many times a day should I use Flomist nasal spray?
The usual adult dose is 1 or 2 sprays in each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning. Your doctor may start you on twice a day and then bring it down to the lowest dose that controls your symptoms. Do not use more sprays than prescribed.
How long does Flomist take to work?
Fluticasone is not an instant decongestant. Some people feel better in 1 to 2 days, but it can take up to 2 weeks for the full effect. Use it every day and tell your doctor if you feel no better after 7 days.
Is Flomist a steroid? Is it safe to use every day?
Yes, fluticasone propionate is a corticosteroid, but it acts mostly inside the nose and very little enters the bloodstream. Used at the prescribed dose it is unlikely to cause lasting harm. Long-term daily use should be reviewed by your doctor, especially at high doses.
Can I use Flutiflo nasal spray during pregnancy?
Fluticasone nasal spray is considered safe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding because almost none of the steroid reaches the baby. Still tell your doctor that you are pregnant so they can confirm it is right for you.
