Frequently asked questions

Glycomet-GP 2 before or after food?

Take it with breakfast or the first main meal of the day. Taking it with food prevents stomach upset and reduces the chance of low blood sugar.

Glycomet-GP 1 vs Glycomet-GP 2 – what is the difference?

Both contain metformin 500 mg; GP 1 has glimepiride 1 mg and GP 2 has glimepiride 2 mg. GP 2 lowers sugar more but has a higher chance of hypoglycaemia. Your doctor chooses based on your readings.

Can I take Amaryl M 2 with alcohol?

Avoid alcohol. It increases the risk of dangerous low blood sugar and of lactic acidosis, and can cause flushing, headache and vomiting.

What should I do if my sugar drops after Glycomet-GP 2?

Take 3 to 4 glucose tablets, a spoon of sugar or half a glass of fruit juice immediately, then eat a snack. If you have frequent low readings, tell your doctor – the dose may need lowering.
