Frequently asked questions
When should I inject Mixtard 30?
About 20 to 30 minutes before breakfast and before dinner, as your doctor has set. You must eat a proper meal after injecting – skipping the meal causes a hypo.
Mixtard 30 vs Mixtard 50 – what is the difference?
The numbers show the share of short-acting insulin. Mixtard 30 is 30% short-acting and 70% intermediate; Mixtard 50 is 50/50 and covers heavier meals. Only your doctor should change the type.
What is the difference between 40 IU/ml and 100 IU/ml insulin?
Both exist in India. The 100 IU/ml vial is 2.5 times more concentrated than the 40 IU/ml vial and must be used with a U-100 syringe (orange cap). Using the wrong syringe gives a very wrong dose – check the label every time.
How do I store Mixtard 30?
Unopened vials and pens go in the fridge door (2 to 8 degrees C), never the freezer. The vial or pen in use can stay at room temperature below 30 degrees C away from sunlight for the period on the leaflet; in Indian summer keep it in a cool pouch.
