What Vildagliptin 50 mg is used for
- Type 2 diabetes – lowering blood sugar when diet and exercise are not enough.
- Added to metformin when metformin alone no longer controls sugar.
- Combined with a sulphonylurea (glimepiride), pioglitazone or insulin, as your doctor decides.
- Used alone when metformin is not tolerated.

Galvus 50 before or after food?
Either. Vildagliptin can be taken with or without food. Many people take it with breakfast and dinner so they do not forget.
Galvus 50 vs Galvus Met – what is the difference?
Galvus 50 contains only vildagliptin. Galvus Met combines vildagliptin 50 mg with metformin 500, 850 or 1000 mg in one tablet, for people who need both. Your doctor decides the combination.
Does vildagliptin cause low blood sugar?
On its own, rarely. Low sugar becomes more likely when it is combined with glimepiride, gliclazide or insulin, which is why the dose is reduced to once a day with a sulphonylurea. Carry something sugary and learn the warning signs.
Why does my doctor check liver tests on Jalra?
Vildagliptin can rarely inflame the liver. Liver enzymes are checked before starting, every three months in the first year and then periodically. Stop and see your doctor if you notice yellow eyes, dark urine or loss of appetite.
