What Amlodipine 10 mg is used for

  • High blood pressure (hypertension) – lowers the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney damage.
  • Preventing angina (chest pain from the heart) attacks.
  • Often combined with other blood pressure medicines such as telmisartan or metoprolol when one tablet is not enough.

Frequently asked questions

Amlokind 10 morning or night?

Either, as long as it is the same time every day. Many doctors suggest the morning; if it makes you drowsy, taking it at night is fine. Do not switch back and forth.

Amlokind 5 vs Amlokind 10 – what is the difference?

Both contain amlodipine; 10 mg is double the strength. Most people start on 5 mg and are moved to 10 mg if the blood pressure target is not reached. Never double your own dose.

Can I take Amlokind 10 with alcohol?

Keep alcohol to a minimum. Alcohol lowers blood pressure further and can make you dizzy or faint, especially when standing up.

Why are my ankles swollen on amlodipine?

Ankle and foot swelling is the most common side effect of amlodipine, especially at the 10 mg dose. It is not a sign of kidney or heart trouble by itself, but tell your doctor – they may lower the dose or add another medicine.
