Frequently asked questions
What is Udiliv 300 used for?
Udiliv 300 contains ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) 300 mg, a natural bile acid. It is used to dissolve small cholesterol gallstones, to treat primary biliary cholangitis, and for fatty liver and other chronic liver conditions where a doctor decides it helps.
Udiliv 150 vs Udiliv 300 – what is the difference?
Both are the same medicine; 300 mg simply means fewer tablets for the daily dose, which is calculated by body weight. Your doctor decides the total daily dose and how to split it.
Should Udiliv be taken before or after food?
With or just after meals. Food helps the bile acid absorb and reduces nausea. For gallstones some doctors prescribe the whole dose at bedtime with a snack.
How long does Udiliv take to dissolve gallstones?
Months, often 6 months to 2 years, and only small cholesterol stones with a working gallbladder dissolve. Your doctor will repeat ultrasound every few months and may continue for a few months after the stones disappear.
