What Atorvastatin + Fenofibrate 10 mg + 160 mg is used for
- Mixed high cholesterol – high LDL (bad) cholesterol together with high triglycerides.
- Lowering the risk of heart attack and stroke in people with diabetes or heart disease whose triglycerides stay high on a statin alone.
- High triglycerides that have not come down with diet, exercise and atorvastatin on its own.
Frequently asked questions
When should I take Tonact-TG – morning or night?
With your evening meal is best. Fenofibrate needs food to be absorbed, and atorvastatin works well at night when the body makes most cholesterol.
Can I take Tonact-TG with alcohol?
Keep alcohol to a minimum. Alcohol raises triglycerides, which is exactly what the tablet is treating, and increases the risk of liver side effects.
Atorva TG vs Atorva 10 – what is the difference?
Atorva 10 is plain atorvastatin for cholesterol. Atorva TG adds fenofibrate 160 mg to also bring down triglycerides. Your doctor picks the combination only when triglycerides stay high on a statin alone.
Why do my legs ache on Tonact-TG?
Mild muscle aches are a known effect of statins, and adding a fibrate makes muscle problems a little more likely. Severe pain, weakness or dark urine is an emergency – stop the tablet and see a doctor the same day.
