Frequently asked questions

Glycomet-GP 1 before or after food?

With breakfast or the first main meal. Taking it with food prevents stomach upset and reduces the risk of low blood sugar.

Glycomet-GP 1 vs Glycomet 500 – what is the difference?

Glycomet 500 is plain metformin. Glycomet-GP 1 adds glimepiride 1 mg, which makes the pancreas release more insulin for stronger sugar lowering but with a chance of hypoglycaemia.

Can I take Amaryl M 1 with alcohol?

Avoid alcohol. It raises the risk of dangerous low blood sugar and lactic acidosis and can cause flushing and vomiting.

What if my sugar goes low on Glycomet-GP 1?

Immediately take glucose tablets, a spoon of sugar or fruit juice, then eat a snack. Tell your doctor if it happens more than occasionally – the dose may need reducing.
