Frequently asked questions

What is Januvia 100 used for?

Januvia 100 contains sitagliptin 100 mg, a DPP-4 inhibitor for type 2 diabetes. It is taken once daily, usually added to metformin, to lower blood sugar without causing weight gain.

Januvia 50 vs Januvia 100 – what is the difference?

Only the strength. The usual adult dose is 100 mg once daily. The 50 mg (and 25 mg) tablets are used when kidney function is reduced or in combination products.

Can I take Januvia 100 with metformin?

Yes. Sitagliptin and metformin work in different ways and are often prescribed together. Combination tablets such as Janumet contain both.

Does Januvia cause low blood sugar?

Rarely on its own. The risk rises when it is combined with glimepiride or insulin; your doctor may lower those doses. Keep a sugary snack handy and know the hypo warning signs.
