Frequently asked questions
What is Pantocid L used for?
Pantocid L contains pantoprazole 40 mg and levosulpiride 75 mg. Pantoprazole reduces stomach acid and levosulpiride speeds up stomach emptying, so it is prescribed for reflux and indigestion with bloating, fullness and nausea.
Pantocid 40 vs Pantocid L vs Pantocid D – what is the difference?
Pantocid 40 is pantoprazole alone for acidity. Pantocid D adds domperidone and Pantocid L adds levosulpiride; both help nausea and slow stomach emptying. Levosulpiride is somewhat stronger but has more side effects on movement and prolactin, so it is kept to short courses.
Pantocid L before or after food?
Before food. Take it 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast so acid is suppressed and the stomach empties better at mealtime.
Can I take Pantocid L daily for a long time?
No. Levosulpiride should not be taken for months because it can cause tremor, stiffness, restlessness and raised prolactin. If you need acid treatment long term, your doctor will usually switch you to pantoprazole alone.
