Take it about 30 minutes before sex. Tadalafil stays active for up to 36 hours, so you do not have to time it exactly, but you still need sexual stimulation for it to work. Do not take more than one tablet in a day.

A small amount is usually tolerated, but alcohol plus tadalafil can lower your blood pressure and cause dizziness. Heavy drinking also makes erections harder to achieve, so it works against the medicine.

10 mg is the usual starting dose for on-demand use; your doctor may move you to 20 mg if 10 mg is not enough, or to a lower daily dose if you use it often. Do not increase the dose on your own, especially if you have heart or BP problems.

Tadalafil is generally safe if your heart is healthy enough for sexual activity. It must never be taken with nitrates (sorbitrate, GTN) used for angina, and people with recent heart attack, stroke or uncontrolled BP should not take it without a cardiologist's advice.
