Uses

  • Erectile dysfunction – difficulty getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex.
  • Pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs), at different doses under a specialist.
  • Erection problems linked to diabetes, high blood pressure or after prostate surgery, when your doctor decides the 100 mg dose is appropriate.

How to take it

Take one tablet about an hour before sex, swallowed whole with water, and no more than one tablet in 24 hours. It works only with sexual stimulation – it does not cause an erection on its own or increase desire. A heavy or fatty meal delays the effect, so take it on a light stomach, and avoid grapefruit juice. 100 mg is the highest strength; most men start on a lower dose and a doctor increases it only if needed, after checking your heart health. Never take it with any nitrate medicine for chest pain. See a doctor rather than self-medicating – erection problems are often the first sign of diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease.

Side effects

Common

  • Headache.
  • Flushing of the face.
  • Blocked or stuffy nose.
  • Indigestion or nausea.
  • Dizziness, or temporary blue-tinged or blurred vision.

Serious

Stop and get medical help urgently if you notice any of these.

  • An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) – go to a hospital to prevent permanent damage.
  • Chest pain, heart attack or fast irregular heartbeat during or after sex – emergency.
  • Sudden loss of vision or hearing – stop and seek urgent care.
  • Seizures, fainting or a severe allergic reaction with blistering skin.

Safety information

Alcohol

Avoid drinking too much – alcohol makes erections harder to get and adds to dizziness and low blood pressure.

Pregnancy

Not for use by women for erectile dysfunction; for pulmonary hypertension in pregnancy a specialist decides.

Kidney problems

A lower dose is used in severe kidney disease; 100 mg is usually not suitable.

Liver problems

A lower dose is used in liver disease; 100 mg is usually not suitable.

Children

Not for children for erectile dysfunction; used in children only for pulmonary hypertension under a specialist.

Missed dose

Not applicable – it is taken only when needed, never more than once a day.

Interactions

  • Nitrates for angina – nitroglycerin, isosorbide (Sorbitrate, Nitrocontin, Monotrate) – dangerous, life-threatening drop in blood pressure; never combine.
  • Alpha blockers for prostate such as tamsulosin, and blood-pressure medicines – can cause fainting; take at a gap as your doctor advises.
  • Ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin and HIV medicines raise sildenafil levels – a lower dose is needed.
  • Rifampicin and some epilepsy medicines reduce its effect.
  • Other erectile-dysfunction medicines (tadalafil, vardenafil) or pulmonary hypertension medicines – do not combine. Avoid "poppers" (amyl nitrite).

Frequently asked questions

What is Manforce 100 used for?

Manforce 100 contains sildenafil 100 mg, a PDE5 inhibitor. It is prescribed for erectile dysfunction, helping a man get and keep an erection when sexually aroused. It does not increase desire or treat premature ejaculation.

How long before sex should I take Suhagra 100?

About an hour before. It can start working within 30 minutes on an empty stomach, and a heavy meal delays it. Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours.

Manforce 50 vs Manforce 100 – which should I take?

Doctors usually start with 50 mg and move to 100 mg only if the lower dose is not enough and there are no side effects. 100 mg is the maximum dose; do not take it without a doctor assessing your heart health.

Can I take Manforce 100 with alcohol?

A small amount may be acceptable, but alcohol itself causes erection problems and adds to dizziness and low blood pressure. It is best to avoid it.

Is Manforce 100 safe for someone with heart disease?

Only after a doctor's check. Sex itself strains the heart, and sildenafil must never be combined with nitrate medicines such as Sorbitrate or Nitrocontin. Tell your doctor about any chest pain, recent heart attack or stroke.

Viagra vs Manforce vs Suhagra – what is the difference?

All contain sildenafil 100 mg. Viagra is the original brand; Manforce, Suhagra, Penegra and Caverta are Indian brands of the same molecule and work the same way.

Does sildenafil work without sexual stimulation?

No. It increases blood flow only when you are aroused. It will not produce an erection on its own, and it does not boost libido.

Can I take sildenafil every day?

Only as your doctor directs. For erectile dysfunction it is taken when needed, at most once a day. Daily low-dose tadalafil is sometimes prescribed instead for regular use.

Is Manforce 100 available without a prescription?

Sildenafil is a Schedule H medicine in India and should be sold only against a prescription. Buying it over the counter skips the heart and blood-pressure check that makes it safe.
