Uses

  • Erectile dysfunction in men – difficulty getting or keeping an erection firm enough for sex.
  • Pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs), at different doses under a specialist.
  • Erection problems linked to diabetes, after prostate surgery or with some antidepressants, when a doctor prescribes it.

How to take it

For erection problems, take one 50 mg tablet with water about one hour before sex, no more than once in 24 hours. It only works with sexual stimulation; it does not cause an erection on its own. A heavy or fatty meal and alcohol can delay or weaken the effect, so take it on a light stomach. Your doctor may change the dose to 25 mg or 100 mg depending on how it works and your other conditions. Do not take it if you use nitrate medicines for chest pain. If it does not work the first time, try on a few more occasions before concluding; if it still fails, see your doctor rather than taking more. Erection problems can be an early sign of diabetes or heart disease, so see a doctor for a check-up rather than just buying tablets.

Side effects

Common

  • Headache.
  • Flushing of the face.
  • Blocked or stuffy nose.
  • Indigestion or stomach upset.
  • Dizziness; temporary blue-tinged or blurred vision.

Serious

Stop and get medical help urgently if you notice any of these.

  • An erection lasting more than 4 hours (priapism) – go to emergency; it can cause permanent damage.
  • Chest pain, irregular heartbeat or fainting during sex – stop and seek emergency help.
  • Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes, or sudden hearing loss.
  • Severe allergic reaction, or a blistering skin rash.

Safety information

Alcohol

Avoid drinking much alcohol. It makes erections harder to get, adds to dizziness and can drop blood pressure further.

Pregnancy

Sildenafil 50 mg is for men. It is not used in pregnancy or breastfeeding except for lung hypertension under a specialist.

Kidney problems

Tell your doctor about kidney disease; a lower dose (25 mg) may be used in severe kidney problems.

Liver problems

Tell your doctor about liver disease; a lower starting dose is often used.

Children

Not for children, except for pulmonary hypertension under a specialist.

Missed dose

Not applicable for erectile dysfunction – it is taken only when needed, no more than once a day.

Interactions

  • Nitrates – isosorbide (Sorbitrate, Isordil), nitroglycerin (GTN), nicorandil – dangerous drop in blood pressure; never combine.
  • Poppers (amyl nitrite) and recreational drugs – dangerous.
  • Alpha blockers for prostate (tamsulosin, alfuzosin) and blood pressure tablets – dizziness and fainting; take only if your doctor agrees.
  • Ketoconazole, itraconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, HIV protease inhibitors – raise sildenafil levels; a lower dose is needed.
  • Rifampicin, carbamazepine, phenytoin – reduce the effect.
  • Riociguat and other pulmonary hypertension medicines, and grapefruit juice – ask your doctor.

Frequently asked questions

How should I take Manforce 50 for the first time?

Take one tablet with water about an hour before sex, on a light stomach and without much alcohol. It needs sexual stimulation to work. Do not take more than one tablet in 24 hours.

Suhagra 50 vs Suhagra 100 – which one?

50 mg is the usual starting dose. Your doctor may move you to 100 mg if 50 mg does not work well, or down to 25 mg if you have side effects, are older, or have kidney or liver problems. Do not double up on your own.

How long does Manforce 50 last?

It usually starts working within 30 to 60 minutes and the effect lasts around 4 hours. It does not give a constant erection – only a response to sexual stimulation during that window.

Can I take Suhagra 50 with alcohol?

A small amount may be tolerated, but alcohol makes it harder to get an erection and increases dizziness and headache. Avoid drinking much.

Is Manforce 50 safe for heart patients?

Many heart patients can use it, but never with nitrate medicines like Sorbitrate or GTN, and not if sex itself is too strenuous for your heart. Always ask your cardiologist first.

Does sildenafil increase sexual desire or delay ejaculation?

No. It only improves blood flow for an erection. It does not increase libido and is not a treatment for premature ejaculation.

Why does Suhagra give me a headache or blocked nose?

These happen because sildenafil widens blood vessels throughout the body. They are the most common side effects and pass within a few hours; a lower dose may reduce them.

Can I take Manforce 50 daily?

It should be taken only when needed and not more than once a day. If you need it regularly, see a doctor – daily low-dose tadalafil may suit you better.

Can I take Viagra 50 with tamsulosin for prostate?

Only if your doctor agrees. Both lower blood pressure and the combination can cause dizziness or fainting, especially when starting.

Is Suhagra 50 available without prescription?

Sildenafil is a Schedule H medicine in India. Erection problems can signal diabetes or heart disease, so a doctor's check-up before starting is important.
