Frequently asked questions
Does Levocet make you sleepy?
It can cause mild drowsiness in some people, usually less than cetirizine. Taking it in the evening reduces the problem. Avoid driving until you know how it affects you.
Levocet morning or night?
Night is preferred. Taking it in the evening means any drowsiness happens while you sleep and the effect lasts through the next day.
Can I take Levocet with alcohol?
Avoid alcohol; it adds to the sedative effect.
Can I take Levocet 5 mg daily?
Yes, one tablet daily is the usual dose for allergic rhinitis and hives, as long as your doctor has advised it. See a doctor if symptoms continue beyond a few weeks.
Levocet vs cetirizine – what is the difference?
Levocetirizine is the active form of cetirizine. 5 mg of levocetirizine is roughly as effective as 10 mg of cetirizine, with a similar safety profile.
Is Levocet safe in pregnancy?
It is not routinely recommended in pregnancy; your doctor may prefer another antihistamine with more safety data. Ask before taking it.
Does Levocet need a prescription?
Levocetirizine is a Schedule H drug in India, so it should be sold against a prescription.
Can I take Levocet with Montair LC?
No. Montair LC already contains levocetirizine 5 mg plus montelukast. Taking Levocet as well would double the antihistamine dose.
