- Allergic cough and wheeze linked to allergies.
- Add-on treatment in asthma patients who also have allergic rhinitis, as prescribed by a doctor.
- Seasonal and perennial (year-round) allergy symptoms.
How to take it
Take one tablet once a day in the evening, with or without food. Swallow with water. Do not take extra tablets for sudden symptoms – montelukast is a preventer, not a rescue medicine. Use it for the period your doctor advises, typically a few weeks during the allergy season.

Safety information
Alcohol
Avoid alcohol; it adds to drowsiness from levocetirizine.
Pregnancy
Ask your doctor. Montelukast is sometimes used in pregnancy if needed; levocetirizine is generally avoided unless clearly necessary.
Kidney problems
The levocetirizine part needs a lower dose in kidney disease, so this fixed combination may not suit people with reduced kidney function. Tell your doctor.
Liver problems
Tell your doctor about liver disease; dose adjustment may be needed.
Children
This strength is for adults and children 15 years and above. Younger children use paediatric "kid" strengths or syrup as prescribed.
Missed dose
Take it when you remember, unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not take two tablets on the same day.
Interactions
- Phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampicin – can lower montelukast levels.
- Alcohol and sedatives – increased drowsiness.
- Other antihistamines – avoid doubling up with cold and cough combinations.
- Gemfibrozil – may raise montelukast levels.
- Ritonavir – may raise levocetirizine levels.
Frequently asked questions
Montair LC morning or night?
At night. Both medicines in Montair LC are usually taken in the evening – montelukast works best taken at bedtime and levocetirizine can make you drowsy.
Can I take Montair LC daily for a long time?
It is meant for regular use during the allergy period your doctor sets, often a few weeks. Long-term daily use should be reviewed by your doctor, particularly because of montelukast's possible mood effects.
Montair LC with alcohol – is it safe?
Avoid alcohol. It increases drowsiness from the levocetirizine part.
Is Montair LC a steroid?
No. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor blocker and levocetirizine is an antihistamine. Neither is a steroid.
Can I take Montair LC with Dolo 650 or Azithral?
There is no known interaction with paracetamol or azithromycin. Still, tell your doctor everything you take.
Does Montair LC help with cough?
It can help an allergic cough or cough linked to post-nasal drip and allergic rhinitis. It will not treat a cough from infection.
Is Montair LC safe in pregnancy?
Only take it in pregnancy if your doctor advises. Montelukast is sometimes continued in pregnant asthma patients; levocetirizine is generally avoided unless needed.
Montair LC vs Montek LC – any difference?
Both contain montelukast 10 mg and levocetirizine 5 mg. They differ in manufacturer and price, not in medicine.
Does Montair LC need a prescription?
Yes. Both ingredients are Schedule H drugs in India, so it should only be dispensed against a prescription.
