Uses
- Nausea and vomiting, including with migraine or stomach upset.
- Bloating, fullness and discomfort after meals caused by slow stomach emptying (gastroparesis).
- Heartburn and reflux when the stomach empties slowly, along with an acid medicine.
- Nausea from some medicines, as advised by a doctor.
How to take it
Take one 10 mg tablet 15 to 30 minutes before meals, up to three times a day, as prescribed. Swallow with water (DT tablets can be dissolved on the tongue). Use the lowest dose for the shortest time – usually not more than 1 week – and no more than 30 mg a day in adults unless your doctor says otherwise, because higher doses and long use increase heart-rhythm risk.

- Headache.
- Diarrhoea or stomach cramps.
- Drowsiness (less than with older anti-vomiting drugs).
Serious
Stop and get medical help urgently if you notice any of these.

Missed dose
Take it before your next meal; do not take two tablets together.

Frequently asked questions
Domstal before or after food?
Before food – 15 to 30 minutes before meals. Taking it after food reduces how well it is absorbed.
Can I take Domstal 10 with alcohol?
Avoid alcohol. It increases nausea and can add to drowsiness.
Can I take Domstal daily for a long time?
No. Domperidone is meant for short courses, usually up to a week, because longer use and higher doses raise the risk of heart-rhythm problems. If symptoms persist, see your doctor.
Is Domstal safe in pregnancy?
It is generally not recommended in pregnancy unless your doctor considers it necessary. Ask before using.
Domstal vs Emeset – which is better for vomiting?
Domperidone helps nausea with bloating and slow stomach emptying; ondansetron is stronger for vomiting from chemotherapy, surgery or severe gastroenteritis. Your doctor decides; do not combine them on your own as both affect heart rhythm.
Can I give Domstal to my child for vomiting?
Only on a paediatrician's prescription, in a weight-based dose. Oral rehydration solution is the first priority in childhood vomiting.
Can Domstal cause heart problems?
Rarely. The risk is higher if you are over 60, take more than 30 mg a day, have existing heart disease, or take other medicines that affect heart rhythm. Tell your doctor about palpitations or fainting.
Does Domstal need a prescription?
Yes. Domperidone is a Schedule H medicine in India.
