Uses

  • Low calcium and vitamin D intake together with low vitamin B12 or folate, as your doctor advises.
  • Bone health support in osteoporosis or osteopenia alongside other treatment.
  • People who need calcium and vitamin D and also have raised B-vitamin needs, as prescribed.

How to take it

Take one tablet a day after a meal with a full glass of water, or as your doctor advises – calcium carbonate is absorbed better with food. Do not take more than prescribed: each tablet has 2,000 IU of vitamin D3, and adults should not exceed 4,000 IU a day from all sources; it also contains 20 mg of vitamin B6 (as pyridoxal-5-phosphate), which is above the 10 mg a day the NHS advises from supplements unless a doctor recommends it, so long-term use should be supervised. Keep it 1–2 hours apart from other medicines, and at least 4 hours from thyroid tablets. Do not add other calcium, vitamin D or B12 products unless your doctor approves.

Stop and get medical help urgently if you notice any of these.

  • High calcium from excess vitamin D – vomiting, constipation, excessive thirst, confusion.
  • Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet with long-term high-dose vitamin B6.
  • Allergic reaction – rash, swelling, difficulty breathing.
