Uses
- Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency together with low vitamin D, as prescribed.
- Nerve-related symptoms such as tingling or numbness when your doctor adds B12 and vitamin D support to other treatment.
- People on long-term metformin who need B12 and vitamin D, on a doctor's advice.
How to take it
Take one tablet a day after a meal, or as your doctor prescribes. Swallow it whole. Each tablet contains 1,000 IU of vitamin D3 – count it with any other vitamin D you take, and do not go above 4,000 IU a day from all sources unless your doctor advises it. Folic acid above 1 mg a day can hide the signs of B12 deficiency, so use this under a doctor's supervision. Do not combine it with other B12, folic acid, vitamin D or B-complex products unless your doctor approves. See your doctor if symptoms get worse.
Side effects
Common
- Usually well tolerated.

Stop and get medical help urgently if you notice any of these.
- High calcium if too much vitamin D is taken – vomiting, constipation, excessive thirst, confusion.
- Allergic reaction – rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing.
- Numbness or tingling that keeps getting worse – needs a doctor's review, not just more supplements.

- Other B12, folic acid or B-complex products – check the total folic acid and vitamin B6.
- Other vitamin D or calcium products, and thiazide water pills – risk of high calcium.
